Dr. Dermot Phelan is a world-renowned cardiologist specializing in sports medicine, currently serving as Director of the Sports Cardiology Center and Medical Director of Cardiovascular Imaging at Atrium Health Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute. He is the team cardiologist for the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC and consults for the NFL, NBA, and MLB. Dr. Phelan earned his MD and PhD from University College Dublin and completed an advanced fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, where he also founded and led the Sports Cardiology Center for eight years before joining Atrium Health in 2020.
